our mission
- To provide low-cost access to tools in an effort to promote home renovations, community beautification and make the best use of valuable resources.
- To strengthen the social (sharing) economy in Edmonton, and reduce our impact on the environment.
what is a tool library?
Tool libraries are like book libraries, but for hand and power tools. They ensure affordable access to tools, provide a space to share skills and knowledge, and maximize the use of tools by lending them to members.
where do the tools come from?
Donations! We have already have an inventory of over 300 tools but we are always looking for more. Check out our wish-list here. If you can provide the user manual, even better!
how are we funded?
We are funded through donations, sponsorships, and membership fees.
We are actively looking for community partnerships and sponsorships. If you are aware of any opportunities, or if you would like to partner with the Edmonton Tool Library please e-mail [email protected].

our origin story
The Edmonton Tool Library was founded in 2016 by five dedicated Edmontonians who were looking for a better way to provide access to tools and came together around a common vision.
